How to read it
The ETF Screener is the fund-focused sibling of the stock screener. Instead of individual companies, it filters exchange-traded funds by attributes that matter for baskets — asset class, sector or theme, and fund-level characteristics — so you can find an instrument that expresses a broad view (a sector, a region, a factor) without single-name risk. It is the right tool when your idea is thematic rather than about one company.
How practitioners use it
Used as context among multiple indicators — never as a standalone signal to act.
Less common professional uses
Power move: compare two ETFs targeting the same theme — small differences in holdings and construction can matter a lot. Caveat: similar-sounding ETFs can hold very different baskets; always check what is actually inside before treating them as interchangeable. Thematic ETFs can be thin or concentrated — check that liquidity and diversification match what the label implies.
